Build Apps with Bkper Agent

Ask Bkper Agent to build or change a Bkper App and watch it live beside the conversation, checked by the agent after each change.

Some work is best done as an App that your team opens from a Book, such as a dashboard of unpaid invoices, a form that records sales your way, or a fix to an App you already use. Bkper Agent builds and changes Bkper Apps for you, and shows the App working beside the conversation while it builds.

Build or change an App

  1. Describe what you need. For example: “Build an App that shows this Book’s unpaid invoices by customer.” To change an App you develop, name it.

When something you ask for is best done as an App, the agent suggests one first and builds it once you agree.

  2. Watch it come together. The App opens beside the conversation, on the Book you are in, and updates as the agent works.

  3. Ask for changes. After each change, the agent opens the App as you would, and fixes what is broken before it tells you it works.

  4. Keep it. When you are happy, ask the agent to save the App’s code or to deploy it, so your team can use it. It never does either unless you ask.

The live App

The App you watch is running in your agent’s workspace. Its header has:

  • Reload, to load it again.
  • Open in new tab, to use it in a full window.
  • Expand, to give it the whole screen while the agent keeps working.
  • Close. The Live App card in the conversation opens it again.

Good to know:

  • Only you see it. People you share the session with see the App’s name, not the App.
  • One App at a time. Showing another App replaces the one you were watching.
  • Only in Bkper Agent. In Slack and in Apps built on Bkper’s agent, the agent can change an App’s code, but you cannot watch it live.
  • It pauses when unused. Opening it again starts it. If it can’t start, the page says so and offers Try again.
  • Only your browser reaches it. Other services and Bkper events can’t reach an App while it runs in the workspace. To try those, ask the agent to deploy a preview.

An App made before live Apps needs a small update first. The agent tells you what to change, or makes the change when you ask.

Your App’s code

The code of the Apps you develop shows in the Agent Workspace, under apps. Read and edit it there, see who changed what, and save it for the App’s developers. Saving does not deploy the App.

Apps hosted elsewhere, such as on GitHub, link to their code. Connect GitHub so the agent can work on them.
